When will OpenAI release GPT-5.6?

Rules

Resolves YES if OpenAI makes GPT-5.6 (or a model officially named as its successor tier) generally available via API or ChatGPT on or before July 17, 2026 (11:59 PM PT). Official OpenAI announcement required. Limited, invite-only, or trusted-partner-only access does NOT count — the model must be generally available to the public. As of July 7, 2026 the June 26 trusted-partner rollout does not satisfy this.

Resolution

OpenAI officially announced and launched GPT-5.6 (Sol, Terra, Luna) for general public availability via ChatGPT and API starting July 9, 2026, with full rollout completing within 24 hours. This satisfies the resolution criteria of general availability by July 12, 2026, 11:59 PM PT, as confirmed by OpenAI's official blog post and multiple reputable news sources.
